Catching Up

So it's been a while since I posted anything. (2 months to be exact.)

My last post was about our attempts at potty training Gradybug. Well, we're still making progress on that, but it's definitely an ongoing process. (For anyone who will be potty training their kids soon, don't do it during the Christmas holiday! #badidea)

Turns out you cannot wear underwear
as a shirt, and this is disappointing
to toddlers.
I have discovered that pull ups are the devil. They're basically more expensive diapers, and my child still uses it like a diaper. After a few months of trying to train with pull ups, I decided we were just gonna have to go cold turkey.

I must admit that keeping up with the twins, working full time, and then Kevin studying from dinner to bedtime every night has been wearing me out, so it was easier for me to take the slow approach with the potty training. But not anymore!! I would rather have a couple of rough weeks instead of dragging this out any more. This week I sent Grady to school with no pull ups! He's in big boy underwear and pants and if he has an accident, then he has an accident and will eventually learn how to keep that from happening. Much to my surprise and excitement, he's had fewer accidents this way than he did with the pull-ups.

Monday he had one accident (an hour before I picked him up). Tuesday he had an accident first thing in the morning but was good the rest of the day. Last night, we were laying in his bed reading his favorite story, and he stopped me and said he needed to go potty!!! So he went to the potty and came back to bed to finish the story. It's finally clicking, and it's also a plus that we will now only have 2 in diapers instead of 3! Woo hoo!

Now let's back track and catch up on the last two months...

Christmas was so much fun this year. Grady finally got the hang of opening presents and it was entertaining to watch him open his gifts. The twins had no clue what was going on, but they looked adorable. Christmas mornings are about to get really fun again with these kiddos, and I look forward to all of the smiles and memories we are going to have.

Gani & Denny with the grandkids (one more on the way in February)

January is a blur. Honestly I'm not even sure what to write about this first month of 2016.  The twins are eating baby food like champs and are growing like weeds. They can both roll over and are playing with toys now. This week they both started getting really fussy at night and we think they're teething. No teeth to report yet, just dark circles under mommy and daddy's eyes.

I'm sure February will be another blur at this rate, and by March or April I bet we will have two more mobile children in our house. Time to start baby proofing the house (we never really had to with Grady, but H&H seem a little more curious/adventurous).

Maybe I will have more time to blog this month, but I doubt it. I'll end up doing monthly recaps so that in 5, 10, 20 years I can look back and realize how crazy fun our life really is right now (emphasis on the crazy), because the good Lord knows I won't even remember next week what happens today.
